Home, Los Angeles 2015

This home was bestowed upon us by a lovely lady named Fumika. She was our inspiration for the project and we updated her Japanese garden and use of space. The landscape was planted to create privacy in the front yard with drought tolerant plants and we carved additional stone paths throughout the property. When the carpets were removed they revealed virgin southern yellow pine floors. We removed window coverings and replaced some with opaque sheets of glass to provide both light and privacy. A pass through was made between the kitchen and living room which revealed views all the way to Long Beach from the front yard. It was light-filled home with stunning views of LA.

We planted a trellis in the middle of the yard and the border to create a private oasis, while still retaining several plantings original to the yard including a gorgeous plumeria.

We cutout the back wall to enlarge the master bedroom and take in the views from bed. Some windows were replaced with frosted glass to allow for privacy and light.
