Cottage, Los Angeles 2015
We restored this lovely cottage on the same premises of the home that we restored. It was the home of one of LA's most respected kimono makers for many years. It is a 1950's one bedroom cottage with beautiful hardwood floors, a new bathroom, new appliances, and a lovely courtyard patio out front. We maintained the charm and simplicity of the original cottage.
The courtyard was planted with jade and drought tolerant potted plants to create an inviting entry.
A cutout was made in the kitchen area to allow light into the living area and create symmetry with the layout of the kitchen.
We retained the original cabinetry and tile work of the kitchen that added character and warmth to the room.
The bedroom leads to the bathroom and the closet which was organized to optimize storage.
Bathroom fixtures were chosen for space and aesthetic. The bathtub was replaced by a walk in shower. The window lets in the morning light.
"This is where you will find the magic."
A stone path leads the way along the side of the main house and down a brick walkway to the cottage.
